Mr. Mayes has over 20 years of senior level executive search and human capital advisory experience within the real estate sector.  Representative clients include private operators, investment management firms, family offices, and public REITs.

Mr. Mayes has successfully completed searches in nearly every major U.S. market and asset class. He focuses within the c-suite, and down to Vice President level assignments spanning acquisitions, development, capital formation, asset management, and operations functions.

Prior to joining Korn Ferry in 2012, Mr. Mayes served at another leading executive search firm, where he was a key member of the national real estate practice. Earlier, he spent seven years at a real estate-focused boutique search firm. He began his search career at another boutique firm, focused within the chief financial officer niche across diverse industries. 

Mr. Mayes has become one of the recognized authorities on the real estate talent market. He is a frequent guest speaker at industry conferences. 

Mr. Mayes earned a bachelor of science degree in economics from Bowling Green State University.
